Commissioning an Original Painting
The initial steps in the commissioning an original painting is to imagine in your mind what you want your
subject to be, its overall feeling, the price and where you intend to hang the painting.

Once you have decided on the subject it is important that you convey to me and idea of what you envision
whether it be a mental idea or a physical place.  Although sometimes an in-person observation may not be
possible it is still the best method; that is, for me to visit the place and sketch and photograph the area.
Working directly from a photograph can be done is possible although photographs can be inaccurate in terms
of color and perspective.  This research phase is the most important in terms of creating a strong foundation for
your painting.

Now is the time for a discussion as to whate direction you want to go with your painting.  Perhaps there is
certain time of day, er era of the past, or a painting of mine that you woould like me to keep in mind when
creating your end product...Always remember this is your painting and my desire is that you love it!  Once I know
what you want I can give you my recommendations for a final concept and price.  I will then be able to work your
request into my schedule and give you a start and finish date.  Exact dates can be set but not necessarily in
concrete as this is an original work of art.

During the painting process I will seek your approval to continue and ask if there are any changes that need to
be made as we move along to the finishing phase.   This can be in person, photographically, or via e-mail.
Framing the paindting is not included in the price, however I will be happy to give you recommendations of
places to check out for framing.

Original Painting Fees

Please be aware that my goal when creating your original work is that it be as close to life as possible.  In
addition, I will often go beyond what is really seen and create en enhanced version of reality.  The idea is to
captivate the viewer having them come in to the world I have created..

Each painting that I creates brings wit h it it's own individual challenges.  This makes it difficult to set fee
guidelines for work that I have yet to envision.  Generally, however, the guidelines that follow  will provide some
idea of the pricing categories.  A more precise estimate will be finalized at the time of our initial conversation.   .
